Kyriaki Kourouni works as Assistant Professor, at the Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies, Boğaziçi University, Turkey. She has worked as a Senior Fellow at the Department of Translation and Intercultural Studies, Aristotle University, Greece. She holds a BA (Hons) from Aristotle University, an MA in Translation from the University of Surrey, UK as well as a DEA in Translation and Intercultural Studies and a European Doctorate (cum laude) from Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Spain. In 2011 she received a Summer School Scholarship from the European Society for Translation Studies for research on her doctoral thesis. She teaches courses related to scientific and technical translation, translation technology. She has over 10 years experience in translation and subtitling. Her research interests include translator training, with a preference for process-oriented translator training, and translation technology.
She is currently a member of the Intercultural Studies Group, the Hellenic Society for Translation Studies and a member of the Executive Board of the European Society for Translation Studies. She has served as Vice-President of the Panhellenic Association of Translators (2008-2010) and as a member of the Translation Technology Committee set up by the International Federation of Translators (2010-2012).

Research Summary
Translating under time pressure is not an unfamiliar concept in the field of translation. Taking into account the increasingly shorter deadlines and turn-around times in the current era of globalization, it becomes of utmost importance to prepare undergraduate translation students for their transition into the real world, where time plays a very important role. In studying how students can learn and/or be taught to translate well under pressure, it becomes relevant to look specifically at students ' learning styles, as this can be hypothesized to strongly influence their ability to cope with time pressure. The study aims to examine possible effects of learning styles on translation quality under time pressure. The hope is to demonstrate that by diagnosing the learning styles of otherwise comparable students, we can predict who will most likely be able to cope with time pressure and how and, at a later stage, take "therapeutic" measures, if necessary, thereby creating a learning environment conducive for all parties, students and trainers, involved.
