We are a proud member of the European Masters in Translation (EMT), a partnership project between the European Commission and selected higher-education institutions.
The EMT is a cooperative network and quality label ensuring the highest standards in relation to curriculum, teaching, professional preparation, infrastructure and facilities. The EMT ensures a skills-oriented curriculum that prepares graduates to work successfully in today's fast-changing translation market.
The EMT is coordinated and financed via the Directorate General for Translation (DGT) of the European Commission. It organizes training opportunities to which both current and graduate students of the Master's have access:
- Internships lasting four weeks in July in the Spanish Department of the DGT.
- Translating Europe Forum each November, with travel and accommodation expenses paid for one student per program.
- Translating Europe Workshops, organized on an irregular basis.
- Access to e-translation: The Master's in Professional Translation receives complimentary access to the machine translation system used by the European Commission.
- Visiting Translator Scheme: European Commission translators are invited to give seminars and share their experience with students. (News)
- Shared research projects in collaboration with the translation and terminology department.
As part of promoting academia and business cooperation, the Masters in Professional Translation at URV is also an academic member of GALA, Globalization and Localization Association.
